Day Sailing prepares you to undertake a confident and safe, independent day cruise. This will include passage planning, effective sailing, tidal effects, decision making and coping with adverse conditions. It is an ideal course for those considering a flotilla or bare boat holiday.
What will I be able to do at the end of this course?
- Passage planning for a day sail
- Understand the effect and characteristics of weather conditions
- Interpret weather information such as synoptic charts and high and low pressure systems
- Preparing a boat for cruising
- Plan alternative routes and refuges
- Improvise in the event of gear failure
- Use tidal information within your passage plan
- Use transits and bearings
- Know how to handle boat in strong winds and difficult conditions
Tuition is provided by trained RYA Instructors using appropriate supervision ratios and is suitable for all ages.
Previous Experience required: RYA Level 2 or 3 or equivalent experience
