RYA Courses
Young Sailors Scheme
It's fun learning to sail at any age! The Young Sailors' scheme is designed for young people aged 8 to 14, actively encouraging them to develop their skills and enthusiasm. The Young Sailors' Scheme (Keelboat) runs alongside and leads into the RYA National Sailing Scheme.
The aim of these awards is to provide an introduction to the sport of sailing in 4 easy steps, when you have completed all 4 stages, you will be safety conscious and will be able to sail a keelboat confidently in light to moderate winds.
Young people learn the ropes in 'Iara', our 7 metre Pegasus yacht, or other suitable keelboat such as a Yeoman, sailing under the supervision of the qualified Instructor. The Instructor, who is in the boat at all times, is CRB checked in accordance with national guidelines. Lifejackets are provided.
